STAINLESS STEEL
We are manufacturing engineers, working with all materials – Stainless Steel, however, is our speciality.
Our fully-equipped workshop has CAD design, CNC machining, TIG welding shops, sheet metal fabrication with press facilities and a fully equipped mechanical and electropolishing metal finishing shop.
We can handle any size or quantity of job, from initial concept development, through design (via Computer Assisted Design) to initial prototyping, manufacturing of “one-off” products or large production runs.
In addition to our production shop, we offer a repair and modification facility: if your existing laboratory, cooking or other food-grade equipment isn’t performing, come in and discuss your requirements.
Our toolmaking service focuses on press and punch dies, manufacturing both “from scratch” and offering die retooling and refurbishment.
We are an outsourcing and outwork supplier to a variety of new Zealand businesses: our OEM production and finishing services include:
-
Design-on-behalf
-
Contract Machining (CNC turning, milling and programming all carried out in-house)
-
Electro polishing – of parts made in our workshop or yours
-
Press and Punching (all materials but with significant expertise in Stainless steels and Aluminium)
-

As a sizing indication, the Series 1-32 dispenser would be suitable for installations from small runoffs to a maximum of 600 milking head. The Series 1-32 has been in continuous production since 1993: all developments made since its introduction are fully retrofittable to all units. As the dispenser operates only on water flow – no power source is required – the 1-32 dispenser can be easily installed anywhere there is a water line, whether in a pump shed, on the side of a building or, as we’ve seen more than once, bolted to a fence post! Note: If mounting outside, we do recommend the dispenser be installed in a shaded area to minimise exposure to UV: a galvanised iron “sunshade” works very well. This dispenser is suited to installations where a clean water supply is assured (no abrasives in the water supply) and products to be dispensed are well mixed to minimise abrasiveness. The Series 1-32 dispenser is shown with the optional pipework manifold. The pipework manifold includes an inline coarse (mesh) filter, a non-return valve, isolation and bypass valves, along with quick-release couplings between the manifold and the dispenser proper. This makes it simple to install the dispenser, then consequently bypass the Se-Tech and/or remove the dispenser for servicing, without interrupting the properties’ water supply. Over 90% of all Se-Tech dispensers are sold with the optional pipework manifold. The Se-Tech Series 1-32 dispenser is designed with the Kiwi Farmer in mind: all parts are available and can be fitted/exchanged by the owner on-site. However we do recommend that all dispensers are periodically sent into us for a service where we will check all parts for wear, runout and alignment. Parts can be ordered by email or by phoning us on 07 8493 108 here is an “exploded” parts list of the unit (PDF format) for quick reference. Full service facilities are of course available via our workshop: we offer service turnaround times from overnight to less than three hours with a booking: please call us on 07 8493 108 or email us to confirm a service booking. The Series 1-32 Se-Tech Inline Liquid Dispenser installation, setup and operation manual can be found here (PDF format). Frequently asked questions regarding operation can be found here . As with all Se-Tech products, Singh’s Engineering Services proudly designs, manufactures and services all Se-Tech Inline Liquid Dispensers in Hamilton, New Zealand.

Singh’s Engineering Services (SES) started in the garden shed in the back of Hurb and Karen Singh’s house in 1979.After operating out of the shed for 18 months Hurb had run out of room, so the business was moved to its first production facility in Mahana Road, Te Rapa. ABOUT US Singh’s Engineering Services (SES) started in the garden shed in the back of Hurb and Karen Singh’s house in 1979. After operating out of the shed for 18 months Hurb had run out of room, so the business was moved to its first production facility in Mahana Road, Te Rapa. Singh’s Engineering was originally an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) for a number of large NZ and overseas-based companies, producing milking cups and other stainless steel products supporting the Dairy industry. One of the products SES manufactured as an OEM was the Carlisle dispenser. Whilst popular – there was little else available on the market at the time – this dispenser had reliability problems and was discontinued. Singh’s Engineering continued to support the machines in use and through this, saw the need for a reliable, New Zealand made dispenser. Singh’s Engineering’s first dispenser: the 19mm unit, was developed and first marketed in the late 1980’s, remaining in production for approximately 15 years. Singh’s Engineering continues to support the owners of these units with parts and service. In 1990, a purpose-built production facility was completed in Mahana Road, Te Rapa, Hamilton, and the company has resided there since. In 1993, production was started on a 32mm dispenser (1-¼” inlets and outlets), which eventually became the Series 1-32. This has remained in continuous production (with ongoing development) and is still recognisable today as our base model. In 1994, the Se-Tech (“Singh’s Engineering Technology”) brand was launched, as the parent brand for our in-house goods such as Inline Liquid Dispensers, Water Flow Indicators and Magnetic Particle Traps. Hurb and the team spend a lot of time talking with our customers and from that interaction came innovation: for example, as the size of NZ farms grew, a larger the dispenser was necessary and so a 50mm dispenser (2” BSP inlets and outlets) was developed, with production beginning in 2003. As time continued, so did developments. The original Series 1 Dispenser remains in wide use. The Series 2 Dispensers were developed to handle more harsh water conditions, for example water which contains higher particulate levels such as manganese, pumice or silt. In response to customer feedback, the Series 2 has a higher dose rate than the Series 1, making it suitable for a wider variety of installations. The latest development in the line of Se-Tech products is the Se-Tech Chlorinator . Based on the 2-32 Se-tech dispenser, it doses extremely low levels of chlorine into a water supply, ensuring safe, effective, low-cost water disinfection. Low-level, ongoing chlorination of a water supply is effective against bacteria, virus and other pathogens. These are often factors on farms with Water Exclusion issues, and in areas where water quality needs improvement. Extremely low level, repeatable and accurate addition rates ensure safe, effective, low-cost water disinfection. The Se-Tech Chlorination system uses a 3-stage process to ensure dosing consistency across a wide range of water flows. Water pressure fluctuations have no effect on the system. Chlorine concentrations of between 5 and 50 parts per million (PPM) are easily acheived in this hands-off, safe injection system. 1. The system first uses a peristaltic pump, which is externally controlled. 2. The pump loads a small amount of liquid chlorine into a calibrated cylinder. Chlorine dosage amount (relative PPM or parts per million) is controlled here. 3. The calibrated volume of chlorine gets pre-mixed with a standard quantity of water – and this premixed solution is loaded into the water supply via the 2-32 Se-Tech dispenser. 4. The (modified) Se-Tech Series 2-32 dispenser ensures accurate dosing. OPERATION INSTALLATION AND BENEFITS The Chlorinator is suitable for installations with flows from 5 litres/minute up to 6000 litres/hour, and into pressures from “Gravity-feed” installations at 10 PSI to high-pressure runs up to 210 PSI. The combination of the proven Se-Tech dispenser, together with a hands-free peristaltic pump – responsible only for loading, not for dosing accuracy – and calibrated chlorine pre-mix/addition station, provides accurate and repeatable dosing at extremely low levels, regardless of water flow/pressure and ambient temperature fluctuations. Staff exposure to potentially dangerous chemicals is minimised, as chlorine is sucked directly out of its container – there is no manual mixing or handling of chemicals. Installation is simplified, as the unit is powered by a low-voltage plug-in pack. This means a certified electrician is not required to install the unit. The plug-in power pack is PAT (Portable-Appliance-Test) checked and certified before leaving our factory. As with all Se-Tech products, Singh’s Engineering Services proudly designs, manufactures and services Se-Tech Chlorinators in Hamilton, New Zealand.
